FEMA Individuals and Household Program
(IHP)
When disasters take place, the IHP provides money and services to people in
the disaster area when losses are not covered by insurance and property has been
damaged or destroyed. IHP will not cover all of your losses from the
damage to your property (home, personal property, household goods) that resulted
from the disaster.
The FEMA program assists in temporary housing,
long-term housing and repairs. FEMA also offers grants for personal
property, medical, dental, funeral expenses and transportation.
The FEMA contact number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY# 1-800-462-7585 (for the speech- or hearing-impaired).
Call this number to obtain a FEMA Claim Number (follow the process below)
and also for the Helpline. Claim numbers are given 24 hours a
day. The Helpline is open 8am-10pm.
